Yoda and I are sensing a disturbance in the Force. Lately I’m getting either super long scenes where there’s too much to dissect…or I get very short scenes where there’s not much to go into. Today is a day of the latter.
First couple of things that pop into my head:
- The Wookiee battle was originally in Lucas’ first script for A New Hope and they were going to be flying proto x-wings on an attack on the Death Star. Because his script was so lengthy and for budgetary reasons, the scene was cut. (I just learned this an hour ago while reading my latest Star Wars Insider. These scenes will be included in the new comic The Star Wars, a comic that adapts George’s first rough draft back in 1974 and puts it into pictures. Excited! Comes out in September by J.W. Rinzler and artist Mike Mayhew)
- When Yoda feels the disturbance in the Force, he senses Anakin turning to the Dark Side. Was he that close to Anakin that he felt it his betrayal or is it that the Dark Side got such a strong surge of power at that moment (addition of Vader, plus Sidious coming out into the open) but he didn’t necessarily know who it was?
EXTERIOR: KASHYYYK-MEETING HALL-DAY
YODA winces, closes his eyes, and holds his head. He feels a disturbance in the Force.
